All About the Virtual Digestion Rubric

Hi Grade 5,
I have noticed that some of you are quick to post your Virtual Digestion homework. A word of caution, be aware that you cannot copy and paste your writing. I will know! I have noticed that this has happened already. The rubric for this task is:

Knowledge - Including at least 10 facts
This means that you need to include 10 facts in your writing or you can add a list. These must be written in your own words. If they are not - I can not award the marks. (10 points)

Spelling - Try your best to use correct spelling. I recommend that you use a spell checker. (5 points)

Punctuation - Including using paragraphs! Write in paragraphs - skipping a line between each paragraph. Use capital letters correctly and full stops. Always leave a space after each full stop! (5 points)

Descriptive words - Get out your thesaurus! Using a higher level of vocabulary will earn you language points. (5 points)

Creativity - Show me your own style! (5 points)

Relevant pictures included - Yes you can include animations! This is an important criteria. You know they say a picture is worth 1000 words!
(5 points)

Include a bibliography: Remember you must put this in alphabetical order:
Author, (year) Title, url, Date accessed - you must write the date that you accessed the site.
For example:
Wikipedia (2006) Digestion, , Accessed on 30/8/07

Welcome to all of you!

Your first homework task is to write a post about your holiday. Put a picture as well. See Raymond's blog - he has already done that! You can use a photo of yourself or of the place that you went to.

My holiday - write it in the title space.

On my holiday I stayed at home. My home is in Sentul. Here is a picture of a rice field. I took my children to play in a rice field. It was a refreshing experience. We were able to walk along the edge of the field. Suddenly! I saw that Luli was teetering on the edge. Plop! Luli fell in! She got mud all over her. Luli didn't care. She wrapped herself in newspaper so that she wouldn't get mud in the car. After we got home Luli ran straight to have a bath. She said that it was really fun to go to the rice field.

Don't forget to visit your friend's blogs by clicking on the links at the sidebar. You need to visit at least 5 blogs and leave a comment. Remember to use your Internet manners. You can also comment on my post too. I will award language points for this task.

Week 3 Homework

Hi Grade 5,
This week I want all of you to make a posting on this blog. It will be the writing that you did for me about your holidays. You need to include a picture. You can use a picture from the Internet.
I also want you to make your own blog and send me your blog address in an email.

Internet Rules

I just want to remind all of you to remember the following:

1. Never put your phone numbers, full name or house address in your blogs.
2. Always use your best manners (netiquette) when posting messages on your friend's blogs.
3. Tell Mrs Jane or Ibu Hana if you get any strange comments posted on your blog that you don't understand.
4. Never tell anyone your password (except Mum and Dad! - they should know)
5. Remember to keep safe on the Internet by trashing spam without opening it or emptying your bulk folder regularly.
6. The information on the Internet can be true and false so don't believe everything - use your own inquiry skills by asking other people and checking your sources.
7. Always ask Mum and Dad first before going on line.

8. Only post free animations and images. Make sure that you don't use something from a CD unless it is a free image. You don't want to break copyright!
9. Write using your own words - don't copy and paste!
10. Consider carefully what personal photos you publish on your blogs as the Internet can be accessed by anyone.
