Good Work Grade 5!
I have read through your peer assessment comments. Well done everyone! Now you know what it is like to try to assess your work. Not easy huh? I would like to give all of you until this Wednesday to finish your assignment. You can edit your work. If you have been told to edit that could mean that you have copied and pasted. Please change your post if that has happened to you.
Online Spelling
Hi Grade 5,
I thought that you might like to try doing some of your spelling online this week.
You need to practice the Grade 5 - List 1
Try the online activity and post a message here with your score.
Peer Assessment
Today in UOI time I would like you to assess 2 of your friend's work. You must look for:
The introductory paragraph - (rating: Well Done, Good Effort or Editing required)
- Does it have attention grabbing sentences?
- Does it explain about the report?
- Is it written in their own words or do you think that it was copied? How can you tell? Copy one of the sentences and paste it into the search bar at Google.com and hit the search button. Can you find the original? Is it the same? If it is it was copied.
- Is there a map? Is the writing in the person's own words? If you are unsure try the Google test. Is the information clear?
- Has the person included pictures? Is there an explanation? Is it in their own words?
- Did the person include a conclusion paragraph? Does it include the main points of the report?
- Is it complete? Does it have Author, (year), Title, URL and date accessed? Is it in alphabetical order?
I, (your name) have read your Religion Report and you have the following rating:
The introductory paragraph -
An explanation about the religion -
The history of the religion -
Religious symbols -
Conclusion -
Bibliography -
You can add a motivational sentence here :-)

Extra Help for Your Religion Report
- Look up the relevant information on the topic you have to write your report about in a book or on the Internet. Keep a record of the resources.
- Prepare an outline. Outline what you want to do on a piece of paper. You could use a mind map. There should be at least:
- An introduction.
- Middle sections with headings, detailing your research, ideas and discussion. Keep this at about 3 different topics at the most. For this report choose - Religion explanation, History and Symbols.
- A summary and/or conclusion. A summary is a retelling of what you have reported on; a conclusion draws together your feelings or arguments about the topic to reach your final point of view.
- Add a bibliography. Put it in alphabetical order.
- Type a rough draft. Check your spelling and punctuation.
- Add pictures and post it to your blog.

Beatrix Potter liked to write picture letters. Here is a link to one of her letters online. CLICK HERE
Below is an actual photo of Beatrix herself.
Do you remember in the film that Beatrix's brother was really interested in insects? Even his father said that he should be an entomologist (a scientist who studies insects). Here is an actual page from Beatrix's sketchbook that shows that she liked to draw insects too. Beatrix drew this when she was 8 years old.

When I was a kid I used to believe that I had to the count of 10 to turn off the light and make it to my bed to get under the covers or a monster from under the bed would get me. Of course it was MY ten-count and I always made it! JACKIE
My mum used to tell me that if i suck my thumb long enough, it would disappear.

Learning to Draw a Portrait
Hi Grade 5,
I will go to Kemang today to my favourite art suppliers called 'Aneka Warna' in Ampera Raya. I will look for graphite pencils and other drawing equipment. In the meantime you can have a look at this amazing online drawing site. You should look at the portrait of Avril Lavigne. You can watch as she is drawn online. If it is too fast, adjust the 'draw speed'.
If you want to join the site you can click here
Rate My Drawings.
This site is a quality site. No scribble or rude pictures allowed.
I tried it out! You can see my drawing here
